Linea Found: Journaling Digital Memories

I am so happy to be presenting a fellow creative, but more importantly, good friend Jorgen Gulliksen and his newly launched website and business: Linea Found!

Most of us, busy with the on-goings of life, try to be dutiful in documenting our moments (particularly with young children) in hopes of capturing those precious ah-ha segments, so that we can remember them and share them with our loved ones. However, the realization of, "Well, what do we do now with all these great images and videos?" Look no further... Jorgen of Linea Found is your answer.

Of course, I'm a bit biased, in looking at Jorgen's artistry in weaving together our life story. Hopefully you will find the inspiration to have your own digital tapestry to wrap yourself around too! You won't regret it. I promise!

...almost... like being there. The Sistine Chapel

Sometimes I like to hit my Stumble Upon! tag, to see what comes up (almost my equivalent to the lottery or fortune telling). Some days are blah... and others... well does WOW say it?

Today's find is definitely a WOWZA! I think I'll leave it on for a while...as the music is sooo soothing! Hope you enjoy it as much as I am (for those not as experimental, click with your mouse, and scroll around. And one day..... I'll make it a point to actually walk inside!

Re-imaging the Roman Coliseum in Type: Cameron Moll

Be prepared to be awed!

Inspired by master calligrapher M. Giovambattista Palatino, carefully crafted with Roman and Italian typefaces: Bembo and Goudy Trajan to celebrate his 10 year wedding anniversary to his wife that was spent in Rome.... utterly gorgeous!

A serious 12 month study on how to arrange typographical letters in the form of the coliseum. If this isn't just plain ol' beautiful and soulfully inspiring, I don't know what is! Thank you Cameron Moll (a designer, speaker, and author living in Sarasota, Florida). You've inspired this west-coast designer in ways that are so awesome!

Dutch artist, Anouk Griffioen (1979) notes preferably in
large format and with great expression.

In soft gray, she is Avant-Garde Woman on Paper.

Poses and attitudes of role models which at first seem to be
strong women, yield to more of the opposite in which the
predominant emotion is loneliness, pain, fear and frustration—
magnified in its scale. What remains is emptiness, shame and
inaction perhaps, where the women go into their background
and are only in their own world.

If there ever was an artist who could inspire me to
desire big blank walls, it would be Anouk. I am so coveting
some bare walls to dabble in pencil on paper over here.

 

 

           

Four Years. Go.

I was feeling sluggish this morning (that second latte is helping, finally...)

But this definitely kicked it into gear.

Some say "Calgon take me away"... I say "Dylan"....

Some days... a good tune can really help carry you along.

I don't think I can ever tire of this one...

a moment to share the limelight with others...

Waking up this morning had that special somethin' in the air.

Beautiful blue skies, birds chirping, warm weather,
7 hours of sleep (yay!), and receiving that email saying the
2008 St. Helena Hospital Foundation Annual Report I designed,
won a GOLD ASTER AWARD! (The Aster Awards is a medical
marketing awards program allowing healthcare organizations
and advertising agencies to compete against similarly sized
competitors from across the nation and world.)
Talk about instant perk! I was smiling from cheek to cheek!

where you can preview it as single pages (easier to print out
that way rather than as spreads), but I'll repost here some
sample spreads for a demo. A BIG thank you to my clients
at SHH Foundation for having confidence and faith in me to
take them in a new direction on the 2008 annual report.
It's hard to believe, but I've been designing this report since
2005. The '08 report was a big bold break from the previous
versions. Gratitudes to Kirsten Bickford, an amazing writer
and Megan Reeves for her ability to understand how my heart
& mind works — capturing the vision in gorgeous photography.

And to think, I feel that the 2009 annual report
(currently being coiffed and buffed before
releasing to the printer next week) is even better!
